phillips led light bulbs - Switch 2 led's
LED stands for Light Emitting Diode, which is a semiconductor light source. First introduced as a practical electronic component in 1962, it's not until recently that advances in technology have produced power LEDs for replacing standard domestic light bulbs. It should tell you something about the revolution in lighting that's about to happen when you look at the amount of investment the large players in the lighting industry such as Philips, Osram, Toshiba and Aurora are putting into the LED replacement light bulb market.
Q. LED replacement light bulbs are expensive aren't they?
A. It depends on what you compare LED replacement light bulbs with, if it's the purchase price of an incandescent or compact fluorescent, then yes they are more expensive to buy, however that's not how you should be looking at these products, in every other way they better than the products they intend to replace, with an average 88% reduction in energy used to light your home.
Q. What's the payback time for the initial cost of replacing my current bulbs with LEDs?
A. An average home would give you a payback of 9-18 months, that's a shorter payback than cavity wall insulation, loft insulation and way shorter than solar panels, and if you take a 5 year view you would likely save over 1000.
Q. I've tried replacement LEDs before and I wasn't impressed.
A. That's unfortunate and probably a result of cheaper imported bulbs up for sale on places like ebay. There's an old saying "buy cheap, buy twice", that's why at Switch2LEDs we only sell branded products from companies such as Philips, Megaman and Deltech. The last thing we want to do is put people off joining the LED revolution.
Q. What is a Lumen and why is is important?
A. A Lumen or Luminous Flux is the amount of light emitted by a light source. For non directional light bulbs, the following table should be used as a guide for determining the Lumen output of a light source.
Q. Do I need any wiring alterations?
A. In a single word; No
Q. Are they dimmable?
A. Here at Switch2LEDs, we make it our policy to stock dimmable bulbs where we can, however there are some which aren't dimmable so we clearly state whether they are or aren't
Q. What types of bulbs do you stock?
A. We stock LED replacement light bulbs to fit the vast majority of traditional light bulb applications, the same base fittings, comparable light output and similar shapes, we are not dropshippers by the way, we hold all our stock and if we don't stock a particular bulb you're after, please contact us at and we'll try our best to help.
Q. Do you sell a 100w equivalent?
A. The most powerful LED we currently sell is a Philips 75w equivalent, a 100w equivalent is not on the market yet, however the technology is here already so it won't be long before such a product exists, and when it does Switch2LEDs will be selling it.
Q. What is your returns policy
If for any reason you are unhappy with your purchase, you can post it to the return address quoted on your shipment.
